POM is a high-crystalline engineering plastic with outstanding stiffness, low friction, excellent wear resistance, and good dimensional stability. It has high resistance to fuels and solvents. Typical applications include gears, bearings, zippers, lock mechanisms, and conveyor chains. Modification enhances POM for demanding uses: glass fiber reinforced POM increases stiffness and creep resistance for structural parts but reduces wear performance. PTFE- or oil-filled POM provides extremely low friction for sliding components in office automation and automotive seats. Conductive POM grades (carbon fiber or carbon black filled) dissipate static for fuel system components and electronics handling. UV-stabilized POM allows limited outdoor use (e.g., automotive exterior mirror gears). Toughened POM (impact modified) improves low-temperature resistance for clips and fasteners. Laser-markable POM supports traceability. Food-contact grade POM is used for dairy processing equipment. Wear-resistant POM with internal lubrication replaces metal bushings.link:http://www.custom-plastic-mold.com
