PPA is a high-performance polyamide that offers superior heat resistance (HDT >280°C with glass reinforcement), low moisture absorption compared to standard nylon, and excellent chemical resistance, especially to automotive fluids and coolants. Typical applications include automotive coolant lines, electrical connectors, high-voltage components, and LED reflectors. Modification is essential: glass fiber reinforced PPA (30-50%) provides very high stiffness and heat deflection for metal replacement. Impact-modified PPA improves ductility for clips and fasteners. Hydrolysis-resistant PPA grades are formulated for long-term exposure to hot water, glycol, and engine coolant (e.g., for thermostat housings). Flame-retardant PPA (V-0, often halogen-free) is used for high-voltage connectors in EV traction batteries. Carbon fiber reinforced PPA offers maximum stiffness for structural parts. High-flow PPA allows miniaturization of electronic connectors. PPA also withstands peak SMT soldering temperatures (260°C) without blistering. Laser-markable PPA supports traceability. UV-stabilized PPA is used for outdoor electrical enclosures.
